Privacy policy

Short version: we ask before setting any cookie, we count visitors anonymously unless you tell us otherwise, and the only personal information we hold is what you choose to send us. Last updated 4 September 2026.

This policy explains what personal information GGRY Design collects through this website, why we collect it, and what we do with it. It is written to be read rather than skimmed past, so it is deliberately short.

Who we are

GGRY Design is an animation studio based in Manchester, United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law we are the data controller for any personal information collected through this site. You can reach us at hello@ggrydesign.co.uk.

What we collect

This is a static website. It has no user accounts, no comment system, no shop and no way for visitors to upload anything. The only personal information we collect is what you type into our contact form, or send us directly by email or phone.

The form is delivered by Formspree, a form-handling service. What you submit passes through their servers on its way to our inbox, so they process it on our behalf as a data processor. They do not use it for anything of their own, and we do not use them for anything else.

The contact form asks for your name and email address, and optionally your company, what kind of video you need, your timescale, and anything else you choose to tell us. Please don't put confidential or sensitive information in it — a short note and we'll take the detail somewhere more suitable.

Why we collect it, and our lawful basis

We use what you send us for one purpose: to reply to you and, if it goes further, to quote for and deliver your project. Our lawful basis is legitimate interests — responding to someone who has deliberately contacted us about work. We do not use your details for marketing, we do not add you to a mailing list, and we do not sell or share them with anyone for their own purposes.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that don't turn into work are deleted once it is clear nothing is going ahead. Where we do work together, we keep project correspondence and the records we need for tax and accounting purposes for as long as the law requires, and no longer than that.

Cookies and analytics

We ask before we set anything. On your first visit a small banner appears at the bottom of the page offering you a choice, and until you make it no analytics cookies are written.

If you allow analytics, we use Google Analytics with its ordinary cookies. Those let us tell a returning visitor from a new one, and follow a single visit across several pages, which is how we learn which pages actually lead somewhere. IP addresses are still anonymised, no advertising features are switched on, and none of it is used to build a profile of you or shared for anyone else's purposes.

If you decline, or simply ignore the banner, Google Analytics still runs but in its cookieless mode: it counts the visit and the page, writes nothing to your device, and cannot recognise you if you come back. That is also exactly what happens if you browse with JavaScript switched off.

Your choice is remembered in your browser's own local storage rather than in a cookie, so declining really does mean nothing identifying is written. You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link at the foot of every page — and if you switch from allow back to decline, we delete the Google Analytics cookies there and then rather than leaving them to expire.

There are no advertising or social media tracking pixels anywhere on this site. Nothing here follows you around the internet.

Third parties your browser contacts

A handful of things on this site are served by other companies. When your browser fetches them, it necessarily shares your IP address and basic technical information with them, in the same way it does with any website.

  • Google Analytics. Loaded from googletagmanager.com on every page. Whether it sets cookies depends entirely on the choice described above; without your consent it runs in the cookieless mode.
  • Google Fonts. Our typefaces load from fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. This happens on every page and is governed by Google's own privacy policy.
  • YouTube. Our videos play in a pop-up player, and only once you click to play one. We use YouTube's no-cookie domain, which does not set tracking cookies unless you actually watch. Nothing loads from YouTube until you press play.
  • Formspree. When you send the enquiry form, your browser posts it to formspree.io, which forwards it to us by email. This only happens at the moment you press send — nothing is contacted while you are simply filling the form in.
  • Gumroad. Our free After Effects rigs are hosted on Gumroad. You only reach it if you click a download button, and from that point you are on their site under their privacy policy.
  • Our hosting provider. The server keeps standard access logs — IP address, time, page requested — which exist for security and troubleshooting and are not used to build any profile of you.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected if it is wrong, to have it deleted, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive a copy of it. Email hello@ggrydesign.co.uk and we will respond within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you told us first so we can put it right.

Changes to this policy

If we change how this site handles personal information, we will change this page at the same time. It is the only privacy policy that applies to this website.
